Born On A Different Cloud

ITFC v Bolton February 1st 2014
January's gone which means the transfer window is now shut. We lost loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe - who was sold by Man Utd to Fulham, but managed to keep hold of all of our own players. The only addition being the loan of Frazer Richardson from Middlesborough.

Turnstile Blues No 4 was out today...

...complete with a cut out Mick McCarthy mask!

It was even given away at The Greyhound with one of these...

My suggestion!

The first half of the match was a pretty drab affair, only brightened up by Bolton's garish infrared away strip. The match and was held up for six minutes while Cole Skuse received treatment for a head injury, a stretcher was called for but fortunately the very groggy looking number eight was able get to his feet and was helped back to the dressing room by the Town's medical staff, his afternoon had lasted just twenty-seven minutes.

Groggy

I got the impression that the Trotters (who had their namesake and former blue Liam on the bench, having signed him on loan from Millwall the previous day) were more than happy to grind out a boring draw, right from the off there was no urgency in their play and they were taking an age with throw-ins, goal-kicks etc.
Ironically though they did have the clearer scoring opportunities of the first half, particularly after Skuse's departure. Their best chance from Neil Dans was well saved by Dean Gerken.
Town, like last week, stepped it up a gear after the interval and looked far more threatening. The games defining moment came after fifty-five minutes when Bolton keeper Andy Lonergan failed to hold a high ball when being challenged by David McGoldrick in the air, for some reason he then grabbed the Town striker as they landed on the ground, the ref pointed straight to the spot. It was a bizarre moment as their captain, Zak Knight was on hand to deal with any danger from the loose ball. After Lonergan had calmed down McGoldrick blasted the resultant penalty right down the middle of the goal, to take his scoring tally to fifteen for the season.
The game opened up after that, Bolton tried to find an equaliser, but watching from the Sir Bobby I felt very comfortable that we would come away with all three points.
Not the best game of football seen at Portman Road this season, but a win's a win and we stay in seventh place after twenty-nine games, four points from the play-off posistions.
